Some habits can be embarrassing for you, I understand and maybe the outcome of these unconscious habits leave you feeling less confident than you could feel. Habits have been described as repetitive learned responses to certain triggers or as a method of self-soothing that perhaps were learned in childhood, but not let go of as you transitioned to adulthood. These are very common.
For example, every time you are on the phone you unconsciously pick at the skin around your nails and then they start to bleed or when you are driving, you start to grind your teeth without realising.
